    This thematic issue of the Italian Journal of Applied Statistics will be devoted to the advancements in the broad field of "Statistical methods for food product quality". Submissions that deal with advances in statistics and applications in this topic, also including data collection, analysis, and interpretation on the topical issues, are welcome.     Three sensometrics tutorials will be taking place at Congress Centre VeronaFiere prior to the Eight European Conference on Sensory and Consumer Research ("Eurosense 2018").

    Tutorials will be held on Sunday 2 September 2018, from 10am – 2pm. Please note you can only attend 1 tutorial and places are available on a first come, first served basis.

    You can enroll in any of the tutorials when registering for the conference. If you have already registered, you can log back into the registration system

    The cost to attend is 70 euros + VAT per person. Tutorials will include a sandwich lunch around noon.

    The Sensometric Society is initiating a Call for Nominations for candidates to fill four positions with terms expiring in 2018:

            Vice-Chair (4-year term)
            Treasurer (4-year term)
            Ordinary Member (4-year term) (2 positions)

    You may either nominate yourself or someone else (with their consent) by sending an email to chair@sensometric.org. A nominee will be considered so long as they are an eligible member in good standing with the society. Candidates will be presented to the membership for a vote at the 2018 AGM, to be held during the 14th Sensometric Meeting in Montevideo.

    The Sensometrics Society will hold its AGM on 10 April 2018 from 17:45-19:00 at the
    Esplendor Montevideo a Wyndham Grand Hotel in Montevideo, Uruguay.

    Contribute to take sensometrics further!
    Abstracts for oral and poster presentations on advanced data acquisition and statistical methods used in the analysis of sensory and consumer science data are invited. Abstracts should be submitted by December 15th 2017 using the online abstract submission system. Submitted abstracts will be acknowledged by email including a reference number, which should be quoted in all correspondence. Abstracts will undergo a review process. Once the abstract is accepted, the corresponding author will be notified by email before February 1st 2018. At least one of the authors of all accepted abstracts must be registered for the conference before March 15th 2018.
